I had this random text monday from a girl saying that a friend of mine gave her my number since am a mechanic and she needed help to replace her valve cover's gasket. I was like...fucking asshole giving my fuckin number dammit! Fuck you! I was pissed...but I decided to respond the next day since it's a small job. I gave her an appointment for the next day and said that i'll take a look first at what needs to be replaced since her engine didn't start. So I got there...and I layed my eyes to one of the most gorgeous Asian I've ever seen! I kept my composure and told her exactly what was wrong so far, I gave her an approximate on the cost of the repairs and to go get the parts (she knows a good place) and i'll install them for a small fee. She was happy and I left. She called me back saying that she wanted to do some of the work we can do now. Well first we had to clean up the engine with all the grime properly, then clean the battery and top the power steering fluid. We got the stuff and we proceed. After I told her what to do, she was actually cleaning her engine with her bare hands, a toothbrush and the degreaser and cleaning the battery with Arm and Hammer with water and a brush. She was more than happy to do it! She was asking questions about how things works and was learning from that. THAT, just THAT made me happy. I hate to do mechanic on a car if the owner is not willing to learn a few things, usually I get the ''you're the mechanic, I don't care fix it!'' treatement. I was actually happy to do my job. I also checked a car she wanted to buy, a Honda Prelude 1998-2001. It was in bad condition, I told her why exactly and she understood. We talked about cars, and the fact that she wants to learn manual and she actually likes my Miata despite that it's missing the door cards! So tomorrow the parts should be there and i'll do the work. In the end she told me that she's a Massage therapist and in exchange for this service since I don't charge her much, she's offering some massage sessions for cheap. I've never been looking forward to work on my spare time before!

What kind of car did you replace the valve cover gasket on that it's a small job?

On my car, it's a really big job! (evil transverse V6 where it's hard to get to the back row)

Honda Accord 95 with the 2.2L. I didn't do the job yet, but from what I see, it's pretty easy.

Well I got her van to do also....3.0L Toyota Sienna. The gasket was leaking on it too, but i'll see if I can extend it since I DONT WANT to do that...unless...

Watch Ebay for a CD called Sex-o-rama...all rerecordings of 1970s prOn themes. It's a hoot. It was also a copyright violation and got pulled from distribution as they rerecorded the songs without permission of the copyright holders. There is a Sex-o-rama 2 with 'songs in the style of' ...I haven't heard it. But play the music from the first one with buddies in the car and you'll run off the road laughing...bow-chicka-bow-wow
